Environmental Management Studies
The impacts of the modern demographic explosion and important urbanization due to rapid improvements in the fields of technology and medicine are forcing governmental establishments of various countries to adapt environmental protection plans in an effort to preserve and improve the quality of its citizens lives.
The general goal of these environmental management programs is to preserve and enhance the quality of the natural environment by preserving renewable resources, preserving and protecting fresh water sources, forecasting environment changes, and applying rules to protect water edges. Other goals also include the coordination of environmental policies and management programs established by the respective governments.
Ecosystem surveys and modeling
Services offered by the PHB Group through their airborne LiDAR surveys and digital imagery technology, and the derived products such as topographic cartography, orthophoto maps, three-dimensional visualization models, DTM, profiles, etc constitute the essential source data to analyse, report, and recommend in the following sectors:
- Water quality and inventory of wetlands;
- Sedimentation transport;
- Drainage and determination of zones subjected to flooding;
- Ecosystem modeling of flora and fauna, and biodiversity
The PHB Group has been particularly successful in completing a major airborne LiDAR and digital imagery acquisition project between Trois-Rivières and Montréal. With a total surface area of over 130 km, it enabled the production of thematic maps of the St-Lawrence River's ecosystem and its potential flooded plains. This permitted the establishment of a reliable management plan of the affected ecosystem.
